This geography – which includes a long coastline, with several river basins, two Atlantic archipelagos, many sea mounts, deep sea corals and hydrothermal vents – hosts two Large Marine Ecosystems (the Iberian marine ecosystem and Macaronesia in the open Atlantic Ocean).
